FERRIS BOUNCES BACK AGAINST VENUS AT HOME

Ferris (4-3) took a tough, one-sided defeat on the chin last week in the valley of dinosaur bones when Glen Rose (6-1) roared, then ran away with a 72-23 decision. The Yellow-jackets, who whipped their nemesis, Godley, 30-22, the week before, were playing neck and neck with the Tigers. Down 16-14 after a quarter, it was 30-23 in what Head Coach Brandon Layne described as a track meet, when senior tailback Damian Edwards went down with a leg injury. The red-cladded Tigers floored it from there, taking advantage of the void by scoring the game’s final 42 points. Edwards also starts in the secondary. In the process Cameron Griffin, a 6’1, 190-lb senior QB, had a field day. Layne wouldn’t say the Tigers ran up the score when asked about Griffin, who continued throwing until he had a school record 7 TD passes. “They are just that good,” he said. “He made great passes and we were thin in the secondary. That team, I expect them to go a long distance in the playoffs.”
