IOWA PARK 53, FERRIS 26
SPRINGTOWN — Demarcus Rankin’s 93-yard kickoff return for a touchdown gave Ferris a brief spark, but the Yellow Jackets (2-9) couldn’t keep pace with a strong Iowa Park squad as the Hawks rolled to a bi-district win at Porcupine Stadium.
Matthew Nunez ran for a touchdown and caught a 23-yard scoring pass from Nate Aguinaga in the second half, and Jeremiah Harrison, who carried 13 times for 124 yards, had a 48-yard TD run to end the scoring after the outcome was no longer in doubt.
Rankin’s runback brought Ferris briefly within 14-6, but Iowa Park recovered to take a 36-6 halftime lead and then opened the third quarter with a score.
Trent Green passed for three TDs and added 134 rushing yards, and Cameron Parker ran for 109 yard and two scores for Iowa Park (10-1), which will face Dalhart in the Region I area round at Lowery Field in Lubbock on Friday at 7 p.m.
